After my recent trip to India where for some reason the posters of a smartly clad Daniel Craig decorated most walls, billboards and back of public buses, my curiosity was aroused. Having watched pretty much all the bond movies, on the big screen, that have come out since i attained adulthood, i dared not to miss this one.
After anticipating heavy ticket rush for the first weekend release, the sleepy city of Novato had a few surprises for me. Firstly, i didn't have to come back later to get tickets for another show, secondly, i could pretty much get tickets for any show i wanted. For Pete's sake High School Musical had a sold out show that evening. That was bad omen !!!
I like talking about movies in halves since most Bollywood movies gives the users a break to bring their brains back to the cinema hall and spend money on popcorn, samosas and pepsi's.
The first half of the movie had its usual car chases, fighting from flights, jumping without parachutes etc. The second half had pretty much the same. Juxtaposing Opera and violence surely was worth a mention and so were visuals in Italy, very appealing.
After about 2 hrs the movie ended leaving me with pretty much the same level of anticipation that i entered the hall with. There was no My name is Bond- James bond scene. There were no gadgets that i could dream about. The bond girls didn't make out - so nothing to droll here and all you ladies, the bond doesn't even show up Topless.
So much for the bond movie, I left the hall with a $21 receipt for the tickets and a not so good impression on Craig's second outing.
