Terror strikes India

Really sad day for India and mumbai as it reels under a terrorist attack.

People are giving updates on twitter and an Indian blogger was one of the first to post some pictures on flickr.

Check out this picture of a young guy, with a gun...sad..very sad...alleged to be one of the terrorist.

My heart goes out to all the families who have lost innocent members in this mindless slaughter.

Not Bond-ing with this one

After my recent trip to India where for some reason the posters of a smartly clad Daniel Craig decorated most walls, billboards and back of public buses, my curiosity was aroused. Having watched pretty much all the bond movies, on the big screen,  that have come out since i attained adulthood, i dared not to miss this one.

After anticipating heavy ticket rush for the first weekend release, the sleepy city of Novato had a few surprises for me. Firstly, i didn't have to come back later to get tickets for another show, secondly, i could pretty much get tickets for any show i wanted. For Pete's sake High School Musical had a sold out show that evening. That was bad omen !!!

I like talking about movies in halves since most Bollywood movies gives the users a break to bring their brains back to the cinema hall and spend money on popcorn, samosas and pepsi's.
The first half of the movie had its usual car chases, fighting from flights, jumping without parachutes etc. The second half had pretty much the same. Juxtaposing Opera and violence surely was worth a mention and so were visuals in Italy, very appealing.

After about 2 hrs the movie ended leaving me with pretty much the same level of anticipation that i entered the hall with. There was no My name is Bond- James bond scene. There were no gadgets that i could dream about. The bond girls didn't make out - so nothing to droll here and all you ladies, the bond doesn't even show up Topless.

So much for the bond movie, I left the hall with a $21 receipt for the tickets and a not so good impression on Craig's second outing.

Kite Runner - Movie Review

Decide to spend this evening with my wife and watch Kite Runner by Khaled Hossini.

I hadnt read the book. One of the few people who think reading books on movies is a waste of time.Might as well watch the movie and spend that time on any other book. But guess millions of others are complete opposite of me. Read the book and then watch the movie.

Agreed, its more fun that way. I have done it too. But time being a precious commodity, makes sense to be more careful in where the time is going.

The movie, coming back to it, was pretty good. the actors and the directors surely did justification to the heart warming script. The locales of Afghanistan, Pakistan and the scenes capturing the surroundings where surely the highlight of the movie. I would recommend watching the movie on a quite chilly day like today.

My google reader shared items

To get a good idea on the trends on my google reader feed. I tried out Wordle. A picture speaks a 1000 words, how many words does a picture of words speak ? That's any one's guess.

Kinda interesting, I always thought i was non political but seems like i did share a lot of debate stuff.

www.wordle.net good job.
