Guys, Time of the year when the entire season boils down to that one last free throw, one last offensive possession, and in the case of the closely contested F1 race, one last race to get your name into the history books.
Alonso, a budding driver knocking on the doors of greatness, Michael, having built a house full of them, were fighting tooth and nail to get some points in the penultimate race. Alas, that was not to be for the first time in 5 season, Ferrari Engine had to crash. And it crashed my friends, crashed so bad, that with it crashed the dream ending that only the choicest of few sportsman have ever had.
Retiring on the top of your game is something no one in the recent past has done barring one lanky cyclist from the Northern Hemisphere and one bulky footballer from the Steelers City. But, it is something that i could bet my life on, that everyone who ever wears sports clothing and sets foot on the ground, starts dreaming about.
Coming back to Schumy, the red rain king, Will he to win the F-1 Championship ask his trusted Lieutenant Massa to crash into Alonso? Or will someone else do the favor for him. Schumacher, as we many recall, did it in 94 and 97 to take the title from Hill and Villeneue. What is going to stop him from doing so to win his final championship? If he does, wont it bring huge disgrace to the sport or will it show that its not the participation that counts anymore that its only winning?
One of my close friends felt that Michael would not win the drivers Championship. They are going for the constructor’s title. In 88 Senna took out Prost to win the championship. While Michael did it in 94, it was a bit of a fluke as he wasn't in control. However in 97 it was intentional, but he lost and got stripped of 2nd place. What if Alonso takes Michael out? Don't think Michael would ask anybody to take Alonso out. More over if he wins in that way it will definitely disgrace him and the sport. Alonso has already said that he is the most unsporting sportsman he has seen; therefore Michael wouldn't want to prove him right.
Only time will tell and I for one have my eyes glued on my watch for that last lap that could either signal the end of a glorious career or the beginning of another great one.
